The Salvation Army - Long Beach

One of the biggest reasons why many people choose thrifting over traditional shopping is because of its affordability. While checking out unique vintage stores and flea markets can be a really cool experience, they are not always the cheapest option when it comes to purchasing second hand. Retail thrift chains like Goodwill, the Salvation Army, and Savers are all highly affordable options for finding and purchasing second hand clothing. Not only are large thrift chains like these affordable, they also have large selections of clothing, home goods, electronics, accessories and more. One of my personal favorite thrift stores in Long Beach is the Salvation Army on Alamitos Avenue. My friend and I had the urge to go thrifting this weekend but each had a limited budget, so we decided to head to the Salvation Army in search of some good deals.

Upon entering the Salvation Army, it can be a bit overwhelming due to its large selection of goods. However, everything is organized by category, making the store fairly easy to navigate. All of the items are priced by category as well, so you don't have to search for the tags on the items to know the price. Depending on the day you go, the Salvation Army usually offers 50% off a specific color tag, which is a really great deal. They also have 50% off all clothing about once or twice a month, and regularly update their Facebook page with information on these sales.

My friend and I lucked out and each found a few pieces that are really cute for the Spring season. I spent a total of $15 and walked away with four items including a lifeguard graphic tee, a pale yellow striped top, a pale yellow halter, and a 1970's inspired flowy bell-sleeve top. These pieces were all so affordable and high quality, and I can't wait to style them for the Spring and Summer!

Stay tuned for next week to learn more about where to thrift in the SoCal area!
